Adamson Vergence group
VGt is a peak performance large-format line array loudspeaker and the first member in the Vergence Group. Including 8 transducers, amplification, a networked DSP endpoint and Autolock rigging into a lightweight and compact package marks a quantum leap in loudspeaker evolution.
The patent-pending M140 MF compression drivers introduce cutting edge technologies redefining the quality of the mid frequency range. Both the M140 and the 3″ HF compression drivers are loaded to critically optimized sound chambers producing a slightly curved wavefront. The LF section contains both direct and directional components to achieve a multi-mode low frequency dispersion pattern. VGt is designed to provide uniform 90 degree horizontal coverage across its entire frequency range, while outputting an impressive SPL with ultra-low distortion.
The cabinet construction uses marine grade birch plywood as well as aircraft grade aluminum and steel. Autolock rigging allows the system to be safely and easily flown by a single engineer. VGt is equipped with custom made onboard Class-D amplification, as well as an intelligent networked DSP endpoint. For efficient cabling, all necessary connections can be daisy chained, including power, analog audio and redundant network containing Milan digital audio and AES70 control data.
VGt is the pinnacle of high-performance large-format loudspeaker products.
TECHNOLOGY
M140 Mid Range Compression Driver
The patent pending M140 is a cutting edge midrange compression driver. Kevlar is used to precisely form the lightweight and ultra-stiff diaphragm which is suspended to a neodymium magnet. As the M140 operates like a piston entirely throughout it’s range of excursion, it offers revolutionary transient response and ultra low distortion over the entire vocal clarity range, where human hearing is the most sensitive.
Multi-mode Low Frequency Dispersion
To offer a uniform dispersion pattern down to the lowest frequency, VGt uses a combination of direct and directional LF drivers. The two forward facing ND13-S combine with two ND10-LM side facing for additional low frequency headroom and to achieve the available dispersion patterns. Users can freely select cardioid, hypercardioid and omnidirectional dispersion. This allows for maximum low frequency control in any situation.
On-board Amplification
With VGt, Adamson has developed a brand new, purpose-built 5 channel Class-D amplifier capable of delivering 10 kW peak. A new highly efficient switched-mode power supply with power factor correction, superior protection circuitry and SiC FET technology has also been developed to supply ample horsepower. The updated networked endpoint provides powerful floating-point DSP, while the integrated Milan-compatible switch fabric offers users in and thru connections with passive continuity when powerless.
